The Web Hosting Depot exists because hosting is sold on a number that almost nobody pays for long. "$2.99 a month" usually needs a three- or four-year prepay, and renews at three to five times that. We think you should see the whole price before you buy.

What we do

• Track the intro price, the term it requires, the renewal price and the 3-year cost for every plan we cover.
• Rank hosts honestly, with a "skip it if" for every one.
• Build free tools (a host checker, DNS lookup, SSL checker, status and speed check, WHOIS lookup and a true-cost calculator) that are useful whether or not you buy anything.

What we don't do

We don't sell hosting, and no host can pay to be ranked. We don't run our own lab benchmarks, and we won't pretend we do: our ratings combine published specs and policies with the consensus of expert reviews and customer feedback, and we say so on every page.
