Look up a domain's registration record: the registrar, when it was registered, when it expires, its status codes, nameservers and whether DNSSEC is on. We use RDAP (the official, structured successor to WHOIS) straight from the registries.
What the record tells you
- Registrar: the company the domain is registered through.
- Expiry date: when it must be renewed. Expired domains can be lost.
- Status codes: e.g.
client transfer prohibited(a lock against unauthorized transfers, normal and good). - Nameservers: who runs the domain's DNS.
Where's the owner's name?
Since GDPR, most registrars redact personal contact details. You'll usually see the registrar and an abuse contact instead. To contact a site owner, use the contact details on the website itself or the registrar's relay form.
Frequently asked questions
What is RDAP?
The Registration Data Access Protocol: the modern, machine-readable replacement for WHOIS, run by the domain registries.
How do I find out when a domain expires?
Enter it above: the expiry date comes straight from the registry record.
Can I see who owns a domain?
Usually not; owner details are redacted for privacy. You'll see the registrar, dates and nameservers.
