The best web hosting in 2026
We may earn a commission when you sign up through our links, at no extra cost to you. It never changes our rankings or the prices we show. How we make money.
The best web hosting is the one that is still good value in year three. Most rankings sort hosts by their headline price: a number that usually needs a three- or four-year prepay and disappears at renewal. This ranking uses our overall rating (value, performance, support, ease of use and features) and shows each host's renewal price and 3-year cost right on the card.
If you want the short answer: SiteGround and Kinsta score highest on performance and support, Rocket.net is the managed WordPress host that promises no renewal hikes, and Hostinger and IONOS are the value picks for small sites. Not sure which kind of hosting you need? The Host Finder asks 8 questions and does the matching for you.

How we ranked these hosts
Every host on this list is scored 1-5 on five things: value (what you pay over three years for what you get), performance, support, ease of use and features such as backups, staging and free migration. The scores are editorial: we combine each host's published specs and policies with the consensus of expert reviews and customer feedback. We have not run our own lab benchmarks, and we say so on every page.
Prices come from each host's official pricing page on the date shown in the table. We record the term you must prepay to get the intro price and the renewal price from the fine print. Where a host doesn't publish a renewal price, we flag it rather than guess.
Which kind of hosting do you need?
- Shared hosting is the cheapest way to run a blog, portfolio or small-business site. Hostinger, Bluehost, DreamHost and IONOS live here.
- Managed WordPress (Kinsta, WP Engine, Rocket.net) costs more but handles caching, updates, staging and backups for you: worth it once a site earns money.
- Cloud and VPS hosting (Cloudways, DigitalOcean, Vultr) gives you dedicated resources; Cloudways manages the server, the others leave it to you.

Before you buy
Check the renewal price in the cart, decide whether the long prepay is worth it, and use the money-back window to test speed and support. InMotion (90 days) and ChemiCloud (45 days) give you the longest to change your mind.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best web hosting overall?
For most small sites, SiteGround offers the best mix of speed, support and features, but its renewals are steep. If you want the best value over three years, Hostinger and IONOS cost the least, and Rocket.net is the strongest managed WordPress host with flat renewal pricing.
Is cheap web hosting good enough?
For a new blog, portfolio or brochure site, yes. Shared hosting from a reputable host handles thousands of visitors a month. Upgrade to managed WordPress or cloud hosting when the site makes money or traffic grows.
Why do hosting prices go up after the first term?
The advertised price is a discount for new customers who prepay a long term. When that term ends, the plan renews at the regular price, often three to five times higher. Our renewal pricing guide explains how to avoid the surprise.
