Built to be honest, fast and private

Every check runs live from our server when you ask for it: nothing is pre-cached from a stale database, and results are kept for ten minutes at most so repeat checks are quick. We only look up public information: DNS records, the certificate a site presents to everyone, the public registry (RDAP) record and the headers a web server sends to any visitor. We never scan ports or crawl beyond the homepage.

The host detector combines four signals (the IP address owner, reverse DNS, nameservers and the web server’s response headers) and shows you the evidence, with a confidence level, instead of a bare guess. If a site sits behind a CDN such as Cloudflare, we tell you that the real host is hidden rather than naming the CDN as the host.
